What is the difference between EAN-13 and Code 128?
EAN-13 is a 13-digit retail barcode format. Enter the first 12 digits and the check digit is generated automatically, or enter all 13 digits and the check digit will be validated. Code 128 can encode a wider range of printable text.
Can I use this barcode for retail products?
This tool creates barcode artwork, not an officially assigned product identifier. Before using a barcode for retail distribution, confirm the identifier requirements of your retailer, marketplace, and relevant standards organization. A generated image alone does not provide GS1 registration.
Will a customized label shape still scan?
The barcode bars remain rectangular and unaltered, but the final result depends on print size, contrast, quiet zones, material, and scanner quality. Always test a printed sample before production.
